Middle-earth Weekend Volunteers

Those who have joined us in the past to help out at the Middle-earth Weekend have enjoyed themselves immensely. The atmosphere is friendly, exciting and full of variety and our visitors are great.

Some of the roles for which volunteers are needed at the Middle-earth Weekend 11th and 12th May 2013

Briefing details will be given and a rota can be arranged so that no-one has to stay on one duty if they do not wish to do so.

Helping set up the event on Friday afternoon with tables, chairs, decorations, notices.

Car Park duties

Programme Sellers on the car park as people arrive or on the field. The programmes give details of all activities and timetables of events.

Information Tent. Here volunteers take bookings for walks, drama or entries for competitions and give out directions as to where things are taking place.

Goffers willing to have radios to report back to central control and respond to calls for help in various ways.

Helping with volunteer refreshments.

Helping run competitions e.g. barrel racing. This involves someone tipping the barrels into the River Cole and others catching the barrels at the end of the course. A net will be catching them but watchers need to fish out the winning barrel.

Providing visitors with equipment for attractions such as mini golf.

Children’s craft activity tent. Monitoring the equipment and activities for the children who wish to work in this tent. Colouring, cutting out, wand making etc.

Helping dismantle the event on the Sunday at 5.00pm.
